Counselling & Psychotherapy in Bristol

with Reza Ahmad (DGP, MBACP)

Life is full of potential yet it can give rise to suffering. We all sometimes feel stuck, confused or overwhelmed. Perhaps you repeatedly find yourself in a painful situation or you are experiencing emotions that seem unmanageable. Relationships, with intimate partner, family, friends or colleagues can be fraught with difficulty. Are you living with the consequences of painful or traumatic past events? You might be feeling lonely, isolated or lacking in self-esteem. Or plagued by guilt and shame. For some, anxiety or fear can be limiting or even crippling. It may be that you are unsure of your direction or purpose in life. It can be difficult to find our way through challenges such as these.

We live in a culture which has promoted individualism and self-reliance to such an extent that we may think it is a sign of failure to acknowledge our vulnerability. However, reaching out to a counsellor or psychotherapist for professional support at a time of need can be an empowering step to take - making a choice to address the difficulty and begin a process which leads to change and growth.

I offer a reduced cost introductory meeting.

If you would like to make an appointment or ask any questions please call me on 07550013989.

Alternatively, you can send me a message online hereI look forward to hearing from you.

I provide a safe, confidential relationship of earned trust within which you can explore the issues that feel important to you. I will support you to be present with whatever feels difficult, stuck and unresolved. When you meet your experience with compassion and openness, change and growth occurs naturally. This process involves getting in touch with your strengths and resources as well as attending to difficulties. It is a journey of recovering, discovering and deepening core qualities within you such as compassion, clarity, confidence, creativity, connectedness, wisdom and love.

I have experience of working with a wide range of issues such as: bereavement, family, health, stress, sadness and anger. The areas that I specialise in are depression, anxiety, abuse, low self-esteem and relationship issues. As my approach is holistic it includes working with the body ('body process'). This can include working with touch if we both feel that may be helpful and appropriate. I always ask for permission before making any kind of therapeutic physical contact.

I also offer both Couples Counselling and Tango Couples Therapy, an alternative, dance-oriented approach. I have an extensive background in meditation practice, including mindfulness, which I integrate with my therapeutic practice.

I am a Bristol based counsellor and psychotherapist with a postgraduate Diploma in Gestalt Counselling and a further Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy. I am also a trained Internal Family Systems Therapist. I am a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am on the BACP Accredited Register and I abide by its Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

My private practice is on Rousham Road in Eastville, Bristol (BS5 6XW). There is free parking outside the property. It is easily accessible by bus and close to Junction 2 of the M32, making it easily accessible by car from outside of the city.
